Like many of us, I saw life shift dramatically after the pandemic. I wasn’t a fashion enthusiast. I didn’t come from the clothing industry. In fact, after spending over 15 years in digital marketing, helping hundreds of brands grow online, I realised something: I had helped countless brands grow, but never created something of my own.
The idea for Mr Vastra wasn’t born in a boardroom. It came from real, everyday observations. During the work-from-home boom, I noticed something strange. Everyone I knew – from college students to startup founders – had started caring a lot more about comfort, but still wanted to look sharp.
My friends, CEOs, creatives, engineers, employees, family members and neighbours, etc were all saying versions of the same thing. I kept hearing the same things
- I need a shirt I don’t have to iron every day.
- I’m done with tight jeans… I just want comfortable pants that still look good.
- Why can’t joggers be both stylish and practical?
As the world adapted to lockdowns, Zoom calls, and home offices, something became very clear to me: Men had finally discovered the joy of dressing comfortably. But as things returned to normal, there was a problem – most men didn’t want to go back to stiff, sweaty, scratchy clothes. And frankly, they shouldn’t have to.
That’s when the idea for Mr. Vastra started to take shape.
I wasn’t just hearing a fashion complaint. I was hearing a new lifestyle shift.
